NCL Upgrades to Norwegian Encore Announced

NLC has announced a series of exciting upgrades for its popular vessel, Norwegian Encore. These enhancements are set to elevate the onboard experience for guests, offering new amenities, redesigned spaces, and expanded dining options. The revitalization of Norwegian Encore is scheduled to begin in November 2024, just before the ship embarks on a series of seven-day Caribbean itineraries from Miami, the “Cruise Capital of the World.”

1. Introducing Spice H2O: The Adults-Only Outdoor Lounge

One of the most anticipated updates is the addition of Spice H2O, an adults-only, complimentary outdoor lounge designed for relaxation and escape. Located away from the main pool deck, this new area replaces the former laser tag arena and will be an oasis for guests aged 18 and older.

Designed by NCL’s longtime partners, Studio Dado, Spice H2O will combine elements from the popular Breakaway-Plus Class Spice H2O with the latest design concepts from Infinity Beach on the Prima Class vessels. Guests can unwind in multiple hot tubs, lounge on eight large day beds surrounded by cooling pools, and enjoy a variety of delicious cocktails from the large bar. This serene space is designed to be the perfect getaway for those seeking tranquility.

2. Expanded Dining Options

NCL is also expanding two of its most popular specialty dining venues: Cagney’s Steakhouse and Teppanyaki. Cagney’s Steakhouse, recently awarded the 2024 Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for its wine program, and the hibachi-style Teppanyaki will increase their capacities by taking over the spaces currently occupied by Los Lobos on deck eight and Coco’s on deck six.

Additionally, Ocean Blue will be transformed into Palomar, a new Mediterranean seafood restaurant. Palomar promises to deliver an elevated dining experience with a focus on Mediterranean flavors, enhancing the culinary diversity on board.

3. Redesigned Suites in The Haven by Norwegian®

Responding to the growing demand for luxurious accommodations, Norwegian Encore will see significant upgrades to its suites within The Haven by Norwegian®, the ship’s exclusive ship-within-a-ship area. The Premier Owner’s Suites with a Large Balcony will be expanded from two bedrooms to three, offering even more space and luxury. These suites will also feature three and a half bathrooms, a fully renovated living room, updated master bedroom and outdoor balcony furniture, and a new separate dining room.

The Haven by Norwegian® offers guests a private, keycard-access-only complex complete with concierge service, a private pool area, restaurant, and bar. These enhancements align with similar refurbishments seen on other NCL ships, ensuring that guests have access to the most luxurious accommodations available.

4. New Balcony Staterooms

In addition to the redesigned suites, Norwegian Encore will introduce 24 new balcony staterooms and two club balcony staterooms by repurposing part of the ship’s Observation Lounge. These new accommodations will provide guests with more options to enjoy the breathtaking ocean views in comfort and style.

A Commitment to Elevated Guest Experiences

David J. Herrera, President of Norwegian Cruise Line, emphasized the company’s commitment to meeting and exceeding guest expectations with these enhancements.

“Our guests’ wants and needs are at the forefront of every decision that we make, and enhancing Norwegian Encore with more of the experiences they value showcases our commitment to just that,” Herrera stated. “From more space for adults to relax, to more opportunities to enjoy their favorite dining options and beyond, we are dedicated to providing our guests with an elevated onboard experience as part of their dream vacation.”

What’s Next for Norwegian Encore?

After the two-week dry dock, Norwegian Encore will embark on a 12-day transatlantic voyage from Southampton, U.K. to Miami. The ship will then offer seven-day, round-trip Caribbean sailings through March 2025, with exciting stops in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; Tortola, British Virgin Islands; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; and NCL’s private island in the Bahamas, Great Stirrup Cay.

For the summer of 2025, Norwegian Encore will head to Alaska, offering seven-day, round-trip cruises from Seattle. Guests will have the opportunity to explore the stunning landscapes and diverse wildlife of the Last Frontier, making this a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

With these new enhancements, Norwegian Encore is poised to offer an even more memorable cruise experience, catering to the evolving desires of today’s travelers. Whether you’re seeking relaxation, luxury, or adventure, Norwegian Encore is ready to deliver.
